Create a new disc

As its name suggests, a data CD is a CD that contains data i.e. anything that your computer normally stores in file form, such as programs, text files, image files, video and sound files and so on. When you open data CDs in the Windows® Explorer their directory structure looks just like the structure of a hard disk. Burning a data disc is really simple and involves only two basic steps:

1. You have to edit the files and folders you want to burn to CD

2. You can (if you like) adjust the write options for the burning process.

The procedure is similar for a new data disc or for updating an exiting data disc.

Update an existing data disc

If you want to update an existing data disc all following steps are similar. The only difference regarding a new

project is that you are prompted to insert the data disc you want to update. In general it is not possible to

update an existing Audio CD, because they will be mostly finalized. Audio CDs burned with

Ashampoo Burning Studio 2008 will always be finalized. Click here to learn more how to burn a data disc or to update an existing

data CD, DVD or Blu-ray Disc with Ashampoo Burning Studio 2008.

Note

Updating an existing Data Disc works only with CDs, DVDs or Blu-ray Discs which where burned in Multisession Mode.
